Composition of crosshatching created using the artist’s 1978-79 “Ranstak” program. Shapes consisting of seven parallel lines were rotated randomly and arranged in a grid across the paper. A plot of one composition where rotations were restricted, in black ink, is drawn over a previous plot using coloured inks where rotations were freer. The colours of the underlying composition were made using CMY inks with intentional slight mis-registration revealing the colour mixing process and at the same time challenging the perception of computer accuracy.
Giclée prints based upon a scan of the original image are now available for £100 each.
